Add your site to Google Search Console
This article explains in detail the complete procedure of how to add your site to the Google Search Console. Each step is explained well and with supported screenshots.
- Go to Search Console
- Click on start or login
- Click on Add property from the top left panel listing other properties if you have already added some.
- Enter the Domain Name or URL Prefix
If you enter just the domain name then you will be allowed only one verification Method and that is DNS verification. However, if you enter URL Prefix then you will have to choose among multiple verification methods. I would like and suggest selecting the URL Prefix method to have multiple verification methods. Keep in mind that you need to enter the exact URL prefix along with HTTP or HTTPS or www or non www, whichever applies to your domain. Suppose you use www in your domain and it is secured with SSL and the domain name is testing then you will have to type “https://www.testing.com/. The last forward slash is a must.
When you click on continue you will be prompted with the following screen.
- Download the HTML file and upload it to the root of your domain. Click on verify when the upload is complete.
