Disable Comments in WordPress?

Why should you disable comments in WordPress?
There can be multiple reasons of disabling comments on WordPress blog or some of the blog posts. One reason may be an excessive number of spam comments. In my case this was the only case. You can also stop spam comments by implementing Captcha. There are also other Plugins which stop spam comments like WordPress zero spam and Akismet.
You can disable comments on one or all of the following.
- Specific Posts
- All Posts
- Specific Pages
- All Pages
Disable Comments in WordPress all pages and posts
- Go to setting
- Select Discussion
- Remove Check “Allow link notifications from other blogs (p ngbacks and trackbacks) on new articles.”
- Remove check “Allow people to post comments on new articles
You can also disable comments on old published posts. This option is present in the same discussion tab under “Other Comment Setting”.
Simply check the identified option and give the number of days. All posts beyond the specified number of days will be having no comments.
Disable Comments in WordPress on Specific Posts or Pages.
Go to posts or pages edit section. When you are in edit page or edit post section. Go to bottom of the post and find discussion. Remove check “Allow comments”
Now save the above setting by scrolling down the discussion page and clicking save option.
. If you are using gutenberg editor. You can also disable it from option. Simply uncheck “discussion” option.
