Create a Table of Content (TOC) in WordPress
Creating a customized Table of Content (TOC) in WordPress is pretty straightforward and you don’t need to use a WordPress Plugin or complex coding to have it on your blog post. In this tutorial, you will learn a step-by-step process of how to make a TOC in WordPress.
Step-1: Set anchor text for headings that you want to include in the TOC.
Click on the heading that you want to include in the TOC and select “advanced” on the right side of your post-editing screen. You will find HTML anchors. Type a meaningful text over here.
Similarly, select all headings and set the anchor text for all of them.
Step-2: Set text for TOC
You can simply copy the text for your headings and paste it here. You can also type some meaningful and relevant text that relates to the headings.
Step-2: Give links to the text of the TOC
Now, select each text of TOC and click on the link. Type “#” followed by the HTML anchor text that you had set for this text.
You are done. Congratulations on having a Table of Content on your blog post without using a plugin or coding.
